Crisp, cool and clean. Dries Van Noten’s bright fluo collection for fall consisted of luscious sorbet colors of coral pink wool garbadine coats, mint green wrap dresses, and iced turquoise sweaters. White poplin shirts and sharp, belted skirtsuits were crisp. Clean came in pristine, winter white funnel-neck coats, thick ribbed, zip-front sweaters and cinched-waist, peach trenches fanning out at the lapels. Now for the cool part. Billowy, bishop-sleeved dresses done up in foliage print or solid black glowed with femininity. What with wide, patent belts cinching the waist and a plunging décolleté, who wouldn’t be tempted to dress a bit more ladylike? But Van Noten’s feminine isn’t prissy. Models stride around the circular catwalk in cascading neckline shells and full skirts—only on each model there’s a patch of fuzzy, static hair sticking out. It’s Van Noten, reminding us there’s always something a bit askew !
